- > C/C++ is also superior for six, very practical reasons ...
-
- You have described market dominance without giving any real reasons to
- support your thesis that one language is intrinsically superior. Your
- argument could also "prove" that PC clones are superior to Macs and that
- Microsoft's bug-ridden programs are superior to it's competitor's
- products.
-
- Truth is, Ada has its strengths and is (for certain projects) far superior
- to any other structured language. Ada is particularly good for large-scale
- development because a few systems engineers can (if they're good) design
- the interfaces so that gangs of junior programmers can't screw up the
- system and turn it into spaghetti.
-
- Ada is also well suited to embedded programming. Since most DoD programs
- are both large and embedded, Ada should be used on most DoD projects.
- Unfortunately, the market forces you've pointed out are overwhelming good
- engineering criteria.
-
- Ironically, as DoD contractors hire lawyers to weasel out of the Ada
- mandate, many comercial companies are choosing Ada for their largest
- projects.
